We headed straight to Phuket Town after we collected our rental car. The weather was very warm that afternoon and we headed straight to the restaurant without delay. We spotted it quite quickly and parked 5 minutes away from the restaurant.
Why One Chun Café & Restaurant Stands Out
What sets One Chun Cafe & Restaurant apart is its commitment to authenticity. Unlike many tourist-oriented restaurants, One Chun serves up bold and flavourful Thai dishes prepared with age-old recipes passed down through generations. The ambiance is another highlight—its retro, vintage-inspired décor gives it an old-world charm that perfectly complements the traditional Thai food.
A Look Inside: Vintage Charm Meets Southern Thai Hospitality
Stepping into One Chun, you’re immediately transported back in time. The restaurant’s old-school wooden furniture, antique collectibles, and black-and-white framed photos create a nostalgic atmosphere. The setting feels warm and welcoming, with a touch of Thai elegance, making it a perfect place for a relaxed yet refined dining experience.

We got to One Chun at around 12.15pm on a weekday and we were lucky there was no queue. The restaurant was about 80% occupied and we decided on 3 dishes to try.

First up was the Traditional Phuket Style Steamed Pork Belly with Pepper and Garlic, it is one of their signature dishes. A familiar flavour similar to Chinese style braised pork belly, the dish contained fork tender pork belly pieces. Not a big portion and its good for 2 to share.

Next was the Deep Fried Egg with Crab Meat. There’s not much taste to this dish though you get a hint of the deep fried egg but the crab meat was kind of absent in it. . Drizzle some Sriracha sauce on top for an extra kick! The positive point was that it wasn’t greasy however I would suggest to order other dishes to try.

The Fresh Crab Meat with Yellow Curry and Coconut Milk served with Noodles was another signature dish. The yellow curry was thick and creamy from the use of coconut milk and mildly spicy. Tone down the richness by dipping the noodles in the curry or pour it over the rice. One of the better and more unique curries in Thailand as the other curries are usually thinner in viscosity.
One Chun Cafe & Restaurant is more than just a place to eat; it’s a cultural and culinary experience. From the rich, flavourful crab curry to the tender pork belly and fresh seafood, every dish is thoughtfully prepared to highlight the best of Southern Thai cuisine. Overall, One Chun did not blow us away but it was a good start to our holiday.
