This cafe and shop specialises in 100% pure raw Australian honey that is bioactive, unprocessed, cold filtered from the pristine forests in Australia. Their honey is carefully selected from apiary sites that yield the highest levels of bio-activity (TA). The Rare Honey Company is founded by Harry Grover, also the founder of successful cafes – Forty Hands and the Common Man Coffee Roasters, and two friends, who are brothers-in-law. The two friends are bee keepers who own and manage their own hives in the South West region of Western Australia.
The anti-microbial quality of West Australia’s honey is measured by the term “Total Activity” or TA. TA is like a bad bacteria killing scale; the higher the TA, the greater the anti-microbial strength. The anti-bacterial activity of honey is derived via natural enzymes and chemicals in the honey. Any honey with a TA greater than 10+ may have beneficial anti-microbial properties and these properties are more effective as the TA level increases. (Source: The Rare Honey Company)

Step into the cafe and you will be greeted with the unique wallpaper adorned with flora and birds plastered along one side of the walls and the dark wooden carpentry reminiscent of English-style interiors. The cafe offers honey-infused sweet treats, tea and coffee, which is probably the first specialty cafe to do so in Singapore.

We ordered a regular flat white and a bergamot rooibos iced tea with honey cream. The flat white did not disappoint especially since the founder is also the man behind 2 popular coffee places.
Got to highlight that the iced tea with honey cream was a lightly sweet and delicate drink. It kind of reminded me of the iced vanilla earl grey tea that I used to have at The Coffee Club but on an elevated level. Uniquely good!
We will definitely return to try out the other items on the menu.
