Noci Bakehouse Suntec City Review: Unique Korean-Inspired Salt Breads Worth Trying

If you’re a fan of Korean bakeries and their creative pastry offerings, Noci Bakehouse at Suntec City is one place worth checking out.

Its Suntec City outlet was decked out in a charming European cottage-inspired interior and had an impressive selection of Korean-inspired bakes, Noci Bakehouse offers an interesting twist on familiar pastries, particularly the popular salt bread.

During my recent visit, we decided to try three different flavours – Corn Cheese Salt Bread, Original Salt Bread and Hotteok Salt Bread.

What caught our attention was the variety of unique flavours available. Rather than sticking to the usual butter-filled salt bread, Noci Bakehouse has introduced some interesting Korean-inspired variations that make the experience a little more exciting.

Original Salt Bread – Sometimes Simple Is Best

We started with the Original Salt Bread, which is probably the safest choice for anyone trying this style of bread for the first time.

Salt bread, also known as shio pan, is known for its buttery flavour and slightly salty finish.

While there are plenty of creative variations available at Noci Bakehouse, the original version offers a more straightforward experience without additional fillings competing for attention.

We found it enjoyable and a good starting point before moving on to the more interesting flavours.

If you’re someone who appreciates simple, buttery bread, this would be a sensible choice.

Corn Cheese Salt Bread – A Little Too Creamy

The Corn Cheese Salt Bread was one of the more interesting flavours we decided to try.

Inspired by the popular Korean corn cheese dish, this variation brings together the sweetness of corn and the richness of cheese in a savoury pastry.

It’s certainly a unique combination, especially compared to the more traditional salt bread flavours.

Taste-wise, we thought it was good. However, the filling was a little too creamy for my personal liking.

Hotteok Salt Bread – A Taste of Korea

Of the three flavours, the Hotteok Salt Bread was particularly memorable.

For those unfamiliar with hotteok, it’s a popular Korean street snack consisting of a sweet pancake, traditionally filled with ingredients such as brown sugar, cinnamon and nuts.

It’s one of those comforting treats that’s especially popular during the colder months in Korea.

What surprised me about Noci Bakehouse’s version was how closely it captured the familiar flavour of traditional hotteok.

It genuinely tasted just like the hotteok you would get from a street vendor in Korea, except presented in the form of salt bread.

I really liked how Noci Bakehouse managed to recreate that familiar Korean street food flavour in a different pastry format.

If you’ve visited Korea and enjoyed hotteok before, this is definitely a flavour worth trying.

Our recommendation: Give the Hotteok Salt Bread a try, especially if you love Korean street food. If you’re a fan of rich, creamy fillings, the Corn Cheese Salt Bread might be right up your alley too. Otherwise there is still a good variety of options for you to choose from.
