Where is Jalan Benaan Kapal Food Centre

The small food centre is a few minutes drive away from Kallang Mac Donalds and it was constructed back in 1968 to cater to the area’s shipyard workers. The nearby warehouses have been converted into popular futsal and floorball courts and the food centre is relatively quiet when we visited in the morning. The food centre is relatively inconvenient to get to and most diners get there by car. It is also easy to miss and we only spotted it after we drove past it.
We were in search of good kway chap in the area as we wanted to find alternatives to the popular stall at Old Airport Road Food Centre.
This kwap chap stall is helmed by an elderly couple and the kway chap is only available after 10am.
The Braised Offal & Meats

✔ Pork Belly – Tender with a good fat-to-meat ratio.
✔ Large Intestines – Clean, chewy (but not rubbery), and packed with flavour.
✔ Beancurd & Eggs – Absorbed all the savoury goodness.
✔ Optional Add-ons: Pig’s skin, small intestines, or extra organs for offal lovers.

We ordered a 2 pax portion and we ordered our favourite ingredients which are the large intestines, pork belly, beancurd, braised egg and fish cake. The soy sauce based braising sauce was savoury, not too heavy and infused with a nice hint of spices.
The large intestines were cleaned well, did not have any funky smell or aftertaste and were relatively tender. The kway or noodle came in nice big sheets and in a broth of diluted braising sauce. The kway was silky smooth as it ought to be and we noticed it was quite thin, which made it all the more slurp-able.
We have tried the other kway chaps in the area, namely To-Ricos Kwap Chap @ Old Airport Road Food Centre and Feng Ji Kwap Chap @ Jalan Batu. Our pick among the 3 would be this kwap chap @ Jalan Benaan Kapal as the braising sauce is more savoury and the large intestines were prepared and cooked well.
Jalan Benaan Kapal’s Kway Chap is literally a hidden gem for kway chap lovers, its not overly hyped yet its good enough to satisfy your cravings. The broth is fragrant without being overpowering, the offal is cleaned well, and the portions are satisfying. While it may not be the most Instagram-famous kway chap in Singapore, it’s a solid, no-frills option that delivers where it counts.
