If you’re craving elevated hotpot in Taiwan with a luxurious twist, look no further than Wulao (無老鍋) — the upscale sibling brand of the famous Top One Pot (鼎王麻辣鍋). Known for its rich collagen broths, refined service, and sumptuous ingredients, Wulao offers a hotpot experience that goes beyond comfort food – it’s decadence in a bubbling cauldron.

What Makes Wulao Special?
Wulao isn’t your average hotpot chain. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with traditional-style décor, attentive staff, and the comforting aroma of simmering herbal soup. Their concept is centred around health, beauty, and balance, using premium ingredients and nourishing bases that soothe the stomach and nourish the skin.

What We Ordered
Signature Collagen Tofu Pot (冰淇淋豆腐鍋)
Their claim to fame — and it lives up to the hype.
- The broth is milky white, rich with slow-cooked pork bones and collagen, but surprisingly light on the palate.
- It includes their signature “ice cream tofu” (冰淇淋豆腐) — a unique tofu that’s whipped, frozen, then simmered, resulting in a texture that’s fluffy and sponge-like, absorbing all the soup’s flavour.
- You’ll also find goji berries, Chinese herbs, and napa cabbage, giving the broth a sweet, gentle complexity.
- The broth is tasty, unique and you don’t feel that it’s too heavy like how other broths can be.
It’s soothing, nourishing, and easy to drink by the bowl — especially if you’re used to heavy, oily hotpot.

Spicy Mala Broth (麻辣鍋)
Can’t skip this if you’re a spice fan.
- The mala base is fragrant and fiery, but not just about heat. It has depth from aged doubanjiang, Sichuan peppercorns, and herbal undertones.
- It’s the perfect complement to the white broth – order a yin-yang pot (鴛鴦鍋) to enjoy both.
Premium Pork & Angus Beef Slices
Thinly sliced, high-quality meats with beautiful marbling.
They cook in seconds and soak up the broths beautifully and its good on its own

Fish Paste & Handmade Dumplings
Springy, fresh, and flavourful – a must-order for seafood lovers. The dumplings have a light chew with juicy fillings that explode with flavour.
Free Sides and Slush
The Taiwanese people love their duck blood curds and Wulao offers unlimited duck blood curds and tofu rolls here. We had some duck blood curds in Taiwan and this is on the top of our list – silky smooth and no bad aftertaste. The tofu rolls soaked up the broth beautifully but they filled up our bellies fast. They also served us a refreshing ice cold slush midway through our meal to cleanse our palate.
What Could Be Better
For a hotpot restaurant of this calibre, we would love to see a more expansive condiment / sauce station, including:
- Fried garlic or shallots for extra aroma and crunch
- Sichuan-style chili with peppercorns for those who love a deep, smoky heat
- Fresh chopped chilies, minced garlic, and coriander / chives for variety
- Pre-mixed house sauces for guests unsure of how to build their own
This small upgrade could offer guests more customisation and flavour layering, aligning Wulao’s condiment game with its otherwise outstanding standards. A proper dipping sauce will help to elevate their game as customers also use it to cool down their food.
Final Verdict
Wulao (無老鍋) isn’t just a hotpot restaurant, it’s a well-crafted experience. From its silky collagen broth to its premium cuts and outstanding service, it’s clear why this place remains a top-tier choice for both locals and tourists alike.
Whether you’re here for a beauty-boosting meal or a rich mala indulgence, Wulao offers a perfect yin-yang balance of wellness and indulgence.
