If you’re in Taichung and craving something that’s local yet under the radar, Fu Kuei Ting (富貴亭) is a place you should visit. This decades-old eatery has earned consecutive years of Michelin Bib Gourmand mentions for its signature smoked goose (煙燻鵝肉), alongside other Taiwanese classics. It is tucked in a narrow alley but not difficult to find as its signboard was quite prominent.
Set in a casual, no-frills space, the focus here is entirely on the food. It was a weekday afternoon almost 2pm when we got there. No queue in sight and we were quickly seated.

What We Tried
Signature Smoked Goose (煙燻鵝肉)
The highlight of the meal. The goose meat is tender and releases flavour as you chew into the meat, with just the right amount of fat beneath the skin. It comes chopped into generous slices and was not overly greasy.
The dry version of mee sua (vermicelli) came drizzled with goose fat and sauce and the Chinese Dang Gui soup version.

Seasonal Vegetables (炒青菜)
The iceberg lettuce was lightly stir-fried with garlic and drizzled with oyster sauce, this dish brings a needed freshness to the table. Great for rounding out the heavier flavours.

We’ve tried smoked duck before, but nothing compares to this, which is why we would highly recommend this specialty smoked goose eatery if you are in Taichung!
