History of Wai Kee Wanton Noodles
Wai Kee was formerly known as Kok Kee Wanton Mee, which Jumbo Group paid $2.1m for a 75% stake back in December 2020. Today Kok Kee Wanton Mee can be found in shopping malls and even in Marina Bay Sands. Established in 1985, Kok Kee Wonton Noodle was founded by Hong Choy Ing and her elder sister, Hong Choy Chan, and is famous for its springy noodles mixed in secret sauce.
As a former Westie, this is one of our favourite breakfast items and it has became a familiar taste for us. Located in the bustling 505 Jurong West Food Centre, Wai Kee has built a loyal following as its wanton noodles is unique in its own way.
What to order at Wai Kee Wanton Noodles

Our usual order will be the dumpling noodle with chilli and here they do not serve green chilli. The chilli paste was not spicy and complemented their proprietary sauce. Each serving of noodles came with a few pieces of boiled leafy choy sum vegetables. The dumplings were of good size and were sufficiently seasoned.

The wanton noodles in my opinion is not as satisfying as the char siew is not the roasted type where you get the smoky burnt ends. Its more like boiled meat and I prefer more filling in my wantons.
The Noodles

Hands down, one of the highlights. The egg noodles are thin, firm and springy, no sogginess here. They hold up beautifully to the sauce, which is a balance of savoury and sweet. Bonus points: no alkaline aftertaste.
Wai Kee Wanton Noodles isn’t fancy and it doesn’t need to be. It’s comfort food done right — the kind you crave for a light breakfast or when you’re missing that taste of your childhood. It delivers consistent flavours, and that irreplaceable feeling of satisfaction only a true-blue hawker gem can give.
