If you’re a fan of authentic Neapolitan pizza, chances are you’ve heard of L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele—the legendary pizzeria from Naples, Italy, made famous by its iconic Margherita pizza and a scene in Eat, Pray, Love. Now, Singaporeans can experience this globally renowned pizzeria without leaving the island. Located in the bustling heart of the city, L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele Singapore promises to deliver the same centuries-old tradition of wood-fired pizza that has won hearts worldwide.
We made a reservation for dinner at Pizzaria Da Michele on a Saturday night. There were two distinct lines; one for those with reservations and one for walk-ins. The doors opened promptly at 6pm and soon the restaurant was filled up.
The Ambience
Stepping into Da Michele Singapore, you’ll immediately notice its warm and rustic atmosphere, with wooden furnishings, an open kitchen, and the centerpiece—the wood-fired pizza oven. The casual yet elegant setting makes it perfect for both quick lunches and relaxed dinners. The focus here is simple: great pizza, done right.

Fritto Di Mare

The Fritto Di Mare was mainly devoured by the two kids, because who wouldn’t love seafood fritters. Simple and wasn’t greasy at all. We probably had a third of the portion before we took the photo.
The Star of the Show – The Pizza
What makes Da Michele’s pizza so special? It all comes down to tradition, technique, and top-quality ingredients. The pizzeria follows the original recipe from Naples, using imported San Marzano tomatoes, Fior di Latte mozzarella, and 00 flour for the dough. Each pizza is cooked in a wood-fired oven at a blistering 480°C, creating that signature thin, slightly charred crust with a soft, chewy center.
Margherita Pizza – The gold standard of Neapolitan pizza, Da Michele’s version is simple yet perfect. The sweet-tangy tomato sauce, creamy mozzarella, fresh basil, and drizzle of extra virgin olive oil combine beautifully on the light, airy crust. A must-try for purists.
Marinara Pizza – A cheese-less option that doesn’t skimp on flavor. The garlicky tomato base, oregano, and olive oil create a punchy, aromatic bite. A great choice for those who appreciate a more rustic, traditional pizza.
Truffle Pizza (Singapore Exclusive) – For something more indulgent, the truffle pizza elevates the classic Neapolitan base with the earthy, luxurious aroma of truffle. The addition of creamy burrata makes this a rich and decadent treat.

The crust on the pizza was nicely charred with leopard spots around the edges. The pizza bread was soft and chewy and the quality of the ingredients shone through. Although fairly expensive by Singapore standards, the two pizzas were surprising filling for two adults and two kids (4 and 7 yo).

It was our first time trying non-tomato base pizzas but we would probably return for the classic Margherita pizza the next time.
Tiramisu

The tiramisu was not the best we had but it was a notch above most of the other restaurants.
More Than Just Pizza
While pizza is the main attraction, Da Michele Singapore also offers a selection of classic Italian dishes.
Handmade Pasta – If you’re in the mood for pasta, their handmade pastas are worth a try, featuring classic sauces like Cacio e Pepe and Puttanesca.
Burrata with Parma Ham – A delightful appetizer with creamy burrata, salty prosciutto, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Simple, fresh, and delicious.
Italian Wines & Cocktails – Pair your meal with a selection of Italian wines or cocktails, curated to complement the flavors of the food.
Overall, the pizzeria felt like a nice casual place to hang out for great pizzas and if you have been looking for a pizza done properly with quality ingredients, this would be the one you need to try.
