If you’re looking for an elegant afternoon tea in Singapore, Brasserie Astoria’s Golden Hour session promises a luxurious escape. But does it live up to the hype? I visited to find out.
Brasserie Astoria Singapore is an international brasserie located in the iconic Victoria Theater & Concert Hall with roots in the 1800s. The concept of Brasserie Astoria was introduced in 2021 in Stockholm in a venue that was once a cinema and with a long history of international hot spot glory.

Housed in a beautifully restored heritage building, Brasserie Astoria exudes old Parisian grandeur. We were given a quick explanation on their new menu offerings and ushered to a table. Every person (including children) has to order a meal and a drink each. The menu had limited selections so we went for the Hotdog ($16), Smashed Burger ($16) and added a Regular ($4) and a Spicy Fries ($4).

The Smashed Burger looked great, you get the toasty buns, spicy horseradish aioli spread on the buns and melted cheese in between the patties. While it looked appetising, we felt that the sauce combined with the cheese overpowered the natural flavours of the beef. Would suggest to have the sauce on the side.

The hotdog on the other hand looked rather unappetising as it was just stuffed with coleslaw. It was messy trying to eat this and after some time, the buns just got too wet and disintegrated.
Overall, the ambience was good and it was something different for a change. It was also nice to explore the area like a tourist after the meal to walk off the calories. The food on the other hand was over seasoned and underwhelming.
