Introduction
Tucked away on the vibrant heritage-shophouse stretch of Joo Chiat Road, Singapore, Bored Tacos brings a fresh, retro-inspired take on Mexican-style fare – think tacos, burritos and quesadillas in a compact, casual setting. The eatery is located along the stretch where Cold Storage is, in case you have trouble finding it.
Being a Muslim-owned taqueria (all no pork/lard) with nett pricing (no GST or service charge) makes it especially welcoming for a broad audience.
Ambience & Setting
The space is small and cosy, just a handful of tables so it leans heavily towards takeaway and delivery, though you can dine in if you catch it outside peak times. Do note that the cooking smells and grease aren’t super well ventilated hence if you are bothered by it, do consider takeaways. Visually, the décor is playful and bright: retro touches, colour-splashes, and quirky design elements give it a fun, vibey feel without being over the top.

Menu Highlights
What We Recommend
- Garlic Prawn Tacos: Succulent prawns paired with garlic, tossed with mango bits and crisp lettuce, which was light, fresh and full of flavour.
- Lamb Tacos: A bold gamey choice, great for when you want something different from chicken or beef.
- Birria Beef Burrito / Quesadilla: For lovers of the current birria trend, this is here but some reviews say it doesn’t quite hit the depth of flavour some other birria spots do.
- Cajun Chicken Tacos: If you have to go for meat, then our recommended is the chicken, its tender and flavourful – it delivers a better overall package than the lamb and beef tacos.

What Works
- Great value for money given the location and concept—nett pricing is a plus.
- Clean execution of strong flavour combinations like the garlic prawn taco.
- Welcoming for those looking for halal-friendly Mexican-style fare.
- Convenient for takeaway or delivery, especially given the compact dine-in footprint.
Final Verdict
We thought that the stringy beef was a tad too tough for us so we would recommend you to go for the chicken and prawn tacos. If you’re in the Joo Chiat area and craving halal tacos then Bored Tacos is a solid stop. It may not reach the heights of “best-ever” in all categories, but it delivers a casual, flavour-forward experience, especially for its price point and inclusive concept.
